OYAGSB PROFESSOR CONTINUES TO DAZZLE ON THE WORLD STAGE

Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to shine on the international stage when the research conducted by Lt. Kol. (PA) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Suki received the Prominent Topics in Research Award at Malaysia's Research Star Award 2018. The event was held at Sama-Sama Hotel, recently.

The award was presented to Lt. Kol. (PA) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Suki by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, Dato’ Mohd Ghazali Abas, representing the Minister of Education, Malaysia.

"This award recognises the quality of the research on Behaviour, Recycling and Green Purchasing which was successfully published and indexed in the Elsevier's international database," said Lt. Kol. (PA) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah.

For MRSA 2018, Elsevier has worked closely with the Ministry of Education Malaysia to acknowledge researchers in four (4) categories i.e. International Research Collaboration, Prominent Topics in Research, Young Researcher and High Impact Paper.

"Winners were selected based on a combination of research metric from Scopus Elsevier and qualitative factors. The result of this study established a new momentum for prior discovery of consumer concerns on the environment as demonstrated in the purchase of green products.

"It is important for companies to give more emphasis to social value, epistemic value and quality of functional value in order to foster environmental concerns among consumers in making their decisions when purchasing various products," she added. Lt. Kol. (PA) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah was also invited to deliver a keynote address entitled The Role of Industry 4.0 in Marketing and Tourism Industry at the 2018 International Conference on Technology and Humanities (IcoTECH 2018) at KDU Penang University College, Penang.

"In dealing with a highly innovative and competitive business industry, coupled with the rapid development of new technologies, organizations need to instigate smart transitions into entrepreneurial minds," said Lt. Kol. (PA) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah. The international conference was jointly organised with the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom. The conference was officiated by Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, Prof. Dr. Ramasamy a/l Palanisamy.

Lt. Kol. (PA) Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah has published more than 300 papers in refereed journals, chapters in books, books and conference papers. She is also an editor of the SCOPUS indexed book besides recording a SCOPUS h-index of 16. She has also received internationally recognized awards including the Highly Commended Paper in the 2015 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence, Highly Commended Paper in the 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence and IGI Global Winners of the Seventh Annual Awards Excellence in Research Journal.

UUM SOARS SEVEN RUNGS UP THE UI GREENMETRIC WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2018

Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has been recognized as the 76th. world’s best university in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2018 announced on 19 December.

This achievement has led to an increase of seven rungs compared to the year 2017 when UUM was ranked at the 83rd. position. UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said this achievement is an honour as the university has managed to leap from the 83rd. position to 76th. this year.

According to him, with the listing, UUM is now placed amongst the 719 universities from 81 countries worldwide compared to the 516 universities from 74 countries last year. "I hope the denizens of UUM will continue to strive to preserve the green surroundings of this University. "I wish for UUM to be known around the world for the beauty of its flora and fauna, as well as for the various facilities provided here, not only for campus residents, but for overseas tourists and the future generation," he said.

UI GreenMetric World University Rankings assesses the sustainability practices of campus in five main categories: Setting and Infrastructure (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste (18%), Water (10%), Transportation (18%) and Education (18%). UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is designed to enhance the sustainability practices of campus, while at the same time supporting the agenda of the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Year 2018 is the fourth year for UUM to be listed in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

Two UUM Lecturers Are Recipients Of Best Paper Award

Two UUM Lecturers were awarded with the Best Paper Award at the Creative Industry International Conference (CIIC) 2018 which was held at the Institute of Broadcasting and Information Tun Abdul Razak (IPPTAR) recently.
The research article written by Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Suki and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norbayah Mohd Suki entitled Investigating the Measurement of Consumers' Electronic Word-of-Mouth (E-WOM), Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motives, and Satisfaction of Islamic Insurance (Takaful) stood out amongst the rest.
The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, who represented the Minister of Communications and Multimedia.
According to Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Suki of the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), her research which successfully made advancement in the scientific knowledge and appropriate data analysis contributed immensely to this recognition.
"This award came as a surprise as the responses obtained were both very encouraging and competitive since more than 80 papers from various countries such as Taiwan, Portugal, South Korea, Oman, Iraq, Thailand and Indonesia were received prior to the Conference.
"I am very grateful for this award because I am able to contribute my expertise, knowledge and experience in producing high impact research papers," she said.
She further added that, the prospects of creative industry continues to show encouraging results as more and more online users tend to rely on opinions or suggestions, testimonials and good or bad comments from other users to get direct and open feedback via online media related to products, services, or organizations.
"Hence, in the face of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0), organizations need to be more willing to give rewards and incentive for positive and creative comments and reviews that can convince customers to perform live transactions online," she said.
