UUM ONLINE: The 30th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) will commemorate another historical event when it commences with the proclamation of Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman as the new UUM Chancellor during the first session on 18 November 2017.

The ceremony will then proceed with the conferment of degrees and awards upon 5,935 graduands.  The 30th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is scheduled to run for five (5) consecutive days, from 18 November till 22 November, at the Mu?adzam Shah Hall, UUM.
Of the 5,935 degree recipients, a total of 4,439 graduands will be conferred the Bachelor?s degree while the remaining 1,496 graduands will receive their postgraduate degrees. Of these, 301 will be conferred the Doctor of Philosophy degree; four will be conferred the Doctor of Management degree; 29, the Doctor of Business Administration degree; 1,107 will be conferred the Master?s degree and 55 will be conferred the Graduate Diploma in Education.
Apart from this, UUM will confer the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree to two prominent figures namely the Founder and Managing Director of Epic Valley Holdings Sdn. Bhd., Tan Sri Dato? Paduka Dr. Fng Ah Seng (Corporate Social Responsibility) and also to a renowned chef, Datuk Redzuawan Ismail (Culinary Arts).
The Vice-Chancellor also pointed out that several VVIPs, specifically the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Dato? Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib; State Legislative Assemblyman for Serom, Abd Razak Minhat; Member of the Parliament for Kangar constituency, Shaharuddin Ismail and the President of the Malaysian National Co-operative Movement (ANGKASA), Dato? Abdul Fattah Abdullah will also be among the graduating students during the ceremony.
Apart from that, this year?s convocation will also witness the first batch of 27 graduands of four Master and Bachelor degree programmes. A total of 664 graduands will receive 30 major university awards,? added Prof. Dato' Seri Vice-Chancellor.
To further enliven the Convocation Ceremony, UUM will also host the Convocation Fair with the theme, ?Mahasiswa Tonggak Transformasi Nasional? (Graduates - the Core of National Transformation). UUM Convocation Fair will begin on 15 November till 22 November 2017, from 9:00 am till 11:00pm at the grounds of the Convocation Expo, PALAPES Parade Ground and around UUM campus.
In addition, exciting activities have also been lined up for the Convocation Fair including Convocation Debate involving international students, a Talk Show featuring Ustaz Haslin Bollywood, a concert by Warner Music entertainers, Rhythm of Champion (ROC) 2017, Retro Night Fame and a football match between Kedah Elite Media Club and ?Pilihan UUM? (UUM?s Selection).
