THE VICE-CHANCELLOR TEST-DRIVES THE ATV AND THE RANGCAR UUM ONLINE
The Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, had the opportunity to test-drive the All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and the rangcar around the UUM campus and the UUM Parade Ground, recently.
He was accompanied by the Director of the Student Affairs Department, Dr. Mohd Dino Khairri Shariffuddin, and other officers from the Department.
The ATV is a type of motorcycle on four wheels used for rugged outdoor activities along extreme and challenging routes, such as jungle trekking. ATV riding is an activity that is gaining popularity among today?s youths.
Also known as the Quad, Quad Bike, Three Wheeler or Four Wheeler, the ATV has been defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a vehicle that travels on low-pressure tyres.
Apart from this, the Vice-Chancellor also test-drove the rangcar, which is essentially a modified buggy used for off-road leisure activities, especially along tough and demanding routes.
At the moment, UUM has only one unit of the ATV for University use and one unit of the rangcar, which will be made available for commercial use soon. It will be available to members of the public, as well as UUM students, but will be driven by a member of the UUM staff.
The use and maintenance of both these vehicles are managed and supervised by the Business Management Centre and Siswaniaga (PPNS), Department of Student Affairs.
